“We soar high on wings like eagles”
As historians, our children are detectives of the past. The study of History helps us to understand people, events and how they have shaped the world we live in today. |
Our History Curriculum at Hilperton Through an engaging history curriculum, we develop inquisitive learners who ask meaningful questions, explore a range of sources and piece together a clear chronology of events that have shaped our world. Our history journey begins locally, helping children understand the past in their own community. From there we explore British history and expand our learning to include significant global events and civilisations. We encourage children to ask key questions, make connections across time periods and understand how the past has influenced the present. Our teaching promotes cultural diversity, fosters respect for different perspectives and supports children's personal development as thoughtful, informed citizens. To bring history to life, we offer enrichment opportunities, including memorable experiences such as visits from guest speakers, trips to the Roman Baths and visits to Trowbridge Museum, which helps children to deepen their understanding through real-world engagement. Through history at Hilperton, children develop curiosity, critical thinking skills and a lifelong interest in the people and events that have shaped our world. |
