Our Writing Curriculum at Hilperton 

At Hilperton Primary, we are passionate about developing confident, skilled and purposeful writers. Children are encouraged to write across a variety of genres and subjects, allowing them to express their ideas, explore creativity and communicate clearly with others. 
Our writing curriculum is carefully sequenced to support the development of both the technical and creative aspects of writing. From planning and drafting to editing and publishing, children are guided through each stage of the writing process. 
We follow the Nelson handwriting scheme across school to ensure consistency and high standards in handwriting and presentation. Children are encouraged to take pride in their work and develop a sense of ownership. 
Writing is embedded across our curriculum. Whether crafting a story, explaining a science investigation or writing a persuasive letter, children learn to write with purpose, clarity and a clear understanding of audience. 
At Hilperton, we nurture a love of writing and help children to see themselves as authors -with a voice and something important to say.
